Good Morning, YMG Family,
We’re excited to introduce the next stage of growth for Young Men Growing—our new Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum! As some of you know, we already have our own financial literacy curriculum, and now we’re expanding our impact with a curriculum designed specifically to address trauma and emotional challenges that continue to affect young Black men.
According to the CDC, suicide is the third leading cause of death among Black youth aged 15-24, and studies show that Black children and teens are experiencing rising levels of trauma, anxiety, and depression—yet they often lack the resources to navigate these struggles.
Our new SEL curriculum will focus on four critical areas to help our young men build resilience and emotional strength:
1️⃣ Suicide Prevention & Awareness
2️⃣ Dealing with Trauma
3️⃣ Navigating Grief
4️⃣ Managing Competitiveness, Ego, Peer Pressure & Comparison
We will begin implementing this new curriculum in February, ensuring our young men have the tools to heal, navigate emotions, and grow intentionally.
We’re committed to their growth, healing, and success. Stay tuned for more updates as we launch this powerful new initiative!
